Day 65 - Not Just Hanging Around

On many projects where prefabrication is used, Cannistraro delivers entire floors of hangers before a single piece of pipe arrives on site. Rolling racks of pre-assembled, pre-planned hangers (such as the one shown in the photo above) are sent out to the field and moved to the appropriate area of the floor.

Day 64 - A Patient Room at Mirebalais Hospital

Today we wrap-up our week long look at the outstanding progress of phase 1 at Mirebalais Hospital in Haiti. Cannistraro only played a small part in helping PIH provide state-of-the-art care to Haitians in need, but we are proud of the work that has been done. The photo above shows a completed patient room, including the prefabricated medical gas head wall units for which our "Stand with Haiti" team was largely responsible.

Day 63 - Working Hand-in-Hand

This mosaic-style walkway is the emblem of Partners in Health. PIH is the driving force behind the Mirbalais Hospital project, and is what inspired Cannistraro's "Stand with Haiti" campaign. Upon on every trip to the hospital, patients are reminded of the teamwork and good will shared by many companies and organizations. For their generous contributions, Cannistraro is particularly grateful to manufacturers such as: American Standard, Beacon Medaes, Cerro Copper Products, Chicago Faucet, F.W. Webb, Fire End & Croker Corp., Harrington Brothers Corp., Quantum Engineering & Trane.

Day 61 - Some Goodwill from Back Home

Today, in our week long look at the fantastic progress being made at the Mirebalais Hospital in Haiti, we focus on the waiting room. The generosity of Boston's own St. Cecilia's Church yielded plenty of seating for the nearly 500 patients per day that are expected to seek care in Mirebalais. In the photo above, John Cannistraro, Jr. is seen sitting in one of the donated pews.

Day 60 - Updates from the Central Plateau

Yesterday was Earth Day, so it's only fitting that we share this picturesque image of the landscape just outside the jobsite of the new hospital in Mirebalais, Haiti. Cannistraro's collaboration with Partners in Health has been well documented, but as phase 1 of the project draws to a close, we are excited to share our progress! Stay tuned all this week for more...

Day 59 - Entering the Hall of Fame

Today we reminisce about being elected to the Massachusetts Building Congress Hall of Fame back in 2009. The above photo shows John Cannistraro, Jr. (right) receiving the award, along with Ed Bond of Bond Brothers and Dr. Zorica Pantic of Wentworth Institute of Technology. Today, John is the sitting President of the Mass. Building Congress. The company will also be represented at a Building Congress Event next week on the topic of social media in construction.

Day 58 - Fuel Oil Storage

We continue to document our prefabrication capabilities by showcasing the many, large prefabricated assemblies we've manufactured for various projects. Today's photo shows a unique project that required Cannistraro to prefabricate containment piping to be used for fuel oil storage.

Day 57 - Ready, Set, Prefab

This truckload of Plumbing piping marks the first shipment of prefabricated assemblies set to ship to the 150 Second Street project in Cambridge, MA. When this laboratory project is completed, approximately 75% of the plumbing infrastructure will have been prefabricated off-site at Cannistraro's Plumbing fabrication facility.

Day 56 - It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Today's perfect weather provided an excellent opportunity to visit a historic Boston landmark, that just so happens to be a current Cannistraro project. The JCC team is beginning a comprehensive retrofit of the fire protection system at the iconic Hatch Shell on Boston's Esplanade. More on this project as the on-site work progresses!

Day 54 - Have you Had your Cannistraro's Today?

To promote our BIM Breakfast Series back in 2009, Cannistraro published this advertisement. As an early adopter, Cannistraro grew into the role of industry leader in Building Information Modeling, and showcased our abilities to use BIM for prefabrication, scheduling, estimating and facility management. Since the meetings were held over breakfast, we handed out Cannistraro's!

We will be sharing a lot of stories and photos from the Fan Pier project over the next few months. While one of Boston's largest projects gets under way, the Cannistraro prefabrication team is already manufacturing and storing the piping assemblies for this complex laboratory/office. The galvanized Fire Protection piping shown above is one example.

Day 46 - Co-location is Key

The spirit and intent behind Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) is taking hold in the construction industry. While the number of contractual IPD projects still remains limited in the Northeast, many concepts from the delivery method are being adopted on other collaborative BIM projects in the area. One of these attractive concepts is "co-location," which brings all parties to the table early in the preconstruction phases to enable mutual drawing/modeling in concert with the design team and other trade contractors in one location.
