Welding, cutting and beveling are just some of the automated procedures being conducted at Cannistraro's impressive fabrication facility. Maneuverability is never an issue in this facility, as it features multiple overhead bridge cranes that transport piping assemblies weighing as much as 4,000 pounds each.

Cannistraro works closely with Turner Construction on many projects in the Greater Boston area. In fact, some of the most advanced BIM projects we've completed in the past few years have been led by Turner. Today we take you inside the BIM Central Command at one of the largest construction projects in the U.S.: laboratory construction for Vertex Pharmaceuticals at Boston's Fan Pier.

Yesterday was the first official day of summer 2012. What better way to end the week and kick off the summer than with a view of the city from a popular summertime for Bostonions: the Hatchshell. Cannistraro's MDC Hatch Shell Fire Protection upgrades project is now complete. If you look closely, you can even see new sprinkler heads in the arches above the stage. While most of you attending summer concerts in this location look at the stage, today's photo is taken from the stage.

Today's photo was taken 20 years ago at the Annual Meeting for union plumbing contractors in the Greater Boston area. If you are familiar with some of the long-time staff here at Cannistraro, you might recognize some of the faces sitting at the JCC table.

Summer time in the A/E/C industry is often characterized by charity golf tournaments. Yesterday, the Cannistraro Service Group participated in the IFMA Golf Tournament at Stow Acres in Stow, MA. It's hard to believe we are already 100 days into our Building with Intelligence 365 project! We have already covered a lot of ground from prefabrication, to community involvement, and signature projects from all three trades. Our 100th post is a familiar picture (and one of our favorites): a completed mechanical room all done up for the cameras! Cheers to the next 100 days...

We kick off the week with one last photo from our 2012 company BBQ. This photo personifies camaraderie and team building as it teams a co-op student, a vice president, an experienced coordinator and a recent college graduate who recently joined the firm. This is exactly why we formed "Team Cannistraro!"

Today's photo depicts 301 Binney Street in Cambridge, MA, a laboratory/office building owned by BioMed Realty Trust. Cannistraro completed the mechanical infrastructure for this project a few years ago, but still maintains the building through a comprehensive service and maintenance plan. Offering turnkey services, from preconstruction to service, maintenance and facility management, is just another way we are "Building with Intelligence."

One week ago, on "Throwback Thursday," we shared a photo of John Cannistraro, Sr. holding his new, young son, John Jr. Today we share a photo taken at yesterday's Cannistraro cookout of the same two gentlemen; more than 50 years later. The past and present leaders of J.C. Cannistraro, LLC are shown in the above photo. This really is a great photo!

Each summer Cannistraro hosts an employee cookout at its company headquarters in Watertown, MA. Despite the rain (for the second year in a row), the annual cookout will be held today and will include a lot of great food, fun and even a little competition. In hopes of convincing the sun to come back out today, here is a snapshot of a BBQ from years passed.

At Cannistraro, we place a great deal of value on mentorship. We've talked about the co-op experience in previous posts, and will likely share co-op stories in the future as well. Today's post shows one HVAC co-op from Northeastern University that has transitioned into a full-time employee. This photo was taken at a "co-op breakfast" where each student is asked to present their progress from their semester working at Cannistraro.

Cannistraro is a member and sponsor of the Boston Chapter of International Facility Management Association (IFMA). Last week we covered the NEBFM conference (an IFMA sponsored event). Last month a group of JCC employees attended the IFMA Awards of Excellence where some of our own projects were nominated! Congratulations to the project team on Boston's Atlantic Wharf; an award-winning project in which we were proud to participate.

It's been a fun but busy week at J.C. Cannistraro. Renovations continue in our office, we launched a new Service Group web page, and we participated in NEBFM'12 events all week. Today's photo is of the expo floor at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) where nearly 2,000 owners and facility managers came to learn and network.

The shot captures a moment between a young Mr.C and recently welcomed son, John Jr. As we look forward to JCC's 50th anniversary its nice to reminisce on moments such as this and wonder, was Mr. C to have known his company would one day be celebrating 50 years in business?

The Cannistraro Service Group continues to take the spotlight. Today, Tom Palange will be promoting this department of JCC at the Northeast Building and Facility Management Show at the Convention Center in Boston. The show will continue through tomorrow, concluding with a reception on Thursday night.

Here at Cannistraro, we greatly value our relationship with Wentworth IT. Many students we mentor as co-ops move on to become full- time employees. Last friday, three members of our team showed support for their alma mater particpating in the Wentworth Alumni Golf Tournament. Our Friday post features a truly impressive image from a BIM of one of our most exciting projects. Cannistraro is leading a team of contractors and consultants on a series of energy upgrade projects at two state health facilities in Danvers and Wrentham, MA. Prominently featured in these upgrades is a full boiler plant upgrade and a brand new cogeneration system. Much more to come in regards to these projects in the future!
